Welcome to La Choza Del Gordo Long Island, located at 247-25 Jericho Tpke, Queens, NY 11426. This vibrant restaurant delivers a gastronomic experience that resonates with the spirit of Latin American cuisine. With a cozy atmosphere adorned with soccer memorabilia, La Choza Del Gordo feels like a lively futbol stadium, inviting both sports enthusiasts and food lovers alike.
The moment you step inside, you are enveloped by an inviting ambiance that sets the stage for a memorable dining experience. Patrons rave about the mouthwatering dishes, from flavorful beef and chicken tacos to delectable empanadas, capturing the essence of authentic Latin flavors. According to one guest, M. Sio, “the food, drink, atmosphere... love it!!!” This sentiment echoes the sentiments of many who find joy in the thoughtfully crafted menu and attentive service.
But the appeal of La Choza Del Gordo extends beyond just the food. The bar serves a selection of cocktails, including a delightful mojito available in multiple flavors, which is perfect for those warm spring evenings spent on the deck. Guests have praised the drink offerings, though some have experienced sticker shock—like one customer who was surprisingly charged $40 for a drink. However, the upscale flavors and vibrant social atmosphere often outweigh such unexpected costs. “ Omg....food, drink , atmosphere.. love it!!! Photo of my empty drink, was so yummy... plus my server Pablo was great. Will make it my spot to go to. ”
“ Came here with friends, seated on the deck, nice spring evening. Cocktails were great, also offered Non-alcoholic choices. We had the mojito, offered in multiple flavors. Started with beef and chicken tacos, delicious. Main courses were good portions, took home for tomorrow's lunch. The staff were courteous. We will definitely be back. ”
“ I’ve visited this restaurant for the first time and I must say, the food was absolutely delicious! The waitress brought the food quickly and was very friendly. There wasn’t any wait times when I went and it was a Saturday, which was surprising! The only thing that I can say I was disappointed with is when I ordered a drink, I didn’t see the price for it and it turned out to be 40. Yes, it was very good! But had I known what the price of it was before hand, I would’ve definitely made a different choice. That was the first time in my life that I ever paid 40 for one drink. Lol Last thing I must say is, the table where I sat was a bit tight and the seat was hard wood, so it made it a little uncomfortable. But when you factor in the price of the food and the taste it is well worth it! Great music and environment. Out of a 1-10, I will give this place a 9. Take away only one point for the hard wood seat and 40 drink. I would encourage others to visit there. You cannot go wrong! ”
“ Visited during the month of Dec. The service is extremely pleasant and fun. They were giving out Aguardiente shots! How can you go wrong with that! Tried the picada during a happy hour. The pork was a little dry. Big enough order to pick in a group of 4. Sat in the bar area and the bartender hosted a nice environment. Attentive and quick with the food order. ”
“ Drove past this restaurant a few times, took a chance to see what it was about. After getting seated the atmosphere in there with all soccer shirts and decorations make you feel like you’re at a soccer stadium. Love the atmosphere, love how they have all the soccer shirts as decorations. We tried a few things the food is a must try they are open late. The drinks are a must as well, ordered the empanadas which were had a shrimp appetizer and a breakfast entree which was good a lot of protein there entrees are big. ”
“ My friends and I visited last night. We showed up at 4pm on a Sunday. This is a very lively venue. There are Huge TV Screens with sports, a pretty long bar, and lots of seating. During the warmer time, the sides of the building open up to offer sidewalk tables. The decorations are really cool. Even though it is a very loud restaurant, I was able to hear my friends. The acoustics are well-balanced. They had a gentleman singing to prerecorded music. He was really good. He wandered the floor and created a really good vibe. One of the owners was also tending to all the tables making sure everything was perfect. The service staff gets the highest marks for being attentive and fun. The food is very traditional Columbian with some Mexican and other items to round out the Latin cuisine. The food was very tasty. Next time I am going to be more daring and try more of the ethnic offerings. This is not a high-class restaurant with really high prices, instead, it is really friendly and affordable. We ate for about 35 each and there was plenty to eat. All in all, I hope this place does well. By 5.30 the place was packed with people from all over the place. We enjoyed ourselves and will visit again. ”
“ Found this place on Google while looking for some food Latin food. Safe to say, we were not disappointed. Vibes were Hubby had a corona and I had a passion fruit margarita, it was a bit too strong for me but I ordered a passion fruit juice for my son so I added a little to my drink and it was okay. For appetizers, we ordered the calamari and fried green plantain with guacamole. Calamari was delicious! I wish the plantains were fried a little longer. But, the guac was . For entrees, my husband got the grilled pork loin that came with beans, rice, and your choice of sweet plantains, green plantains, or fried yuca (for an additional 2.95). I ordered the breaded chicken, which only came with plantains, rice, and salad, so I ordered beans on the side because what's Latin food without some beans?! My 5 year old wanted fish, so we ordered the grilled fish filet but received the breaded fish filet instead, we kept it. It was good. This also only came with rice, plantains, and salad. Overall, the food was AMAZING! We had our baby with us, and he became a little fussy, so we didn't get the chance to finish our food, but we packed it up to go. I would definitely visit again! ”
